Between Heritage And Horizon
Size: 90x70 cms
Materials: Mixed Media, Fabrics, Paper, Pastes, Sand, Wood
Process:
This work brings together paint, sand, paper, fabric, wood and three-dimensional elements to create a richly tactile portrait of Rajasthan. Traditional textiles and layered materials give the figures a sense of place, while the 'pop-out' newspaper becomes an actual part of the composition, blurring the boundary between painting and reality. Rough textures, raised surfaces and fragments of everyday material echo the warmth, dust and architecture of Rajasthan. The deliberately constructed surface mirrors the meeting of an ancient culture with a changing, contemporary world.
