Process

This series began with the artist reflecting on her father’s belief in a fundamental right: that every girl should have the freedom to choose her own path.

The series was built slowly, in layers - both visually and emotionally. Each work began with mapping the landscape and the sense of movement, followed by multiple layers of paint that build depth, atmosphere, and energy. Material elements such as sand embedded within the landscapes create a tactile, earthy presence, grounding the work in something raw and tangible.

In contrast, the textured detailing of the protagonist’s hair represents an untamed, unapologetic sense of freedom. The tension between the grounded landscape and the wild movement of the hair becomes a visual dialogue between rootedness and release.

Together, these layers explore the delicate balance between control and freedom - a tension that lies at the heart of the series.
